Mazin Qumsiyeh


Mazin QumsiyehMazin Qumsiyeh, PhD, served on the faculty of both Duke and Yale Universities (six and five years respectively). He is currently serving on the boards of the Association for One Democratic State in Israel/Palestine (one-democratic-state.org) and the Palestinian American Congress. His third and latest book is titled "Sharing the Land of Canaan: Human Rights and the Israeli/Palestinian Struggle".

He was founder and president of the Holy Land Conservation Foundation and ex-President of the Middle East Genetics Association. He won the Jallow activism award from the Arab American Anti-Discrimination Committee in 1998. He is a cofounder of a number of groups including Al-Awda, the Palestine Right to Return Coalition (see http://al-awda.org), Triangle Middle East Dialogue (interfaith) and the Carolina Middle East Association, AcademicsForJustice.org and BoycottIsraeliGoods.org campaigns.

Appearances in national media have included the Washington Post, New York Times, Boston Globe, CNBC, C-Span, and ABC, among others. He is a member of a number of human rights groups including Amnesty International, Peace Action, Human Rights Watch, and the American Civil Liberties Union. He is Vice Chair of the Middle East Crisis Committee (http://TheStruggle.org) and volunteers and participates with several other local groups including CTUnitedforPeace.org and We Refuse to be Enemies.
